    Hypnosis

Successfull UK Pop/Glam band. Mud was founded by singer Les Gray & drummer Dave Mount. They formed a band with bass player Ray Stiles and guitarist Rob Davis. Being discovered by producer Mickie Most during a gig, they were hooked up with the writer/producer tandem of that time: Chinn & Chapman. Hits followed very fast and until 1980 they were a multiselling band. In 1980, after declining success and a replacement for Les Gray, the band decides to quit. Les Gray died of a heart attack in 2004.

    Ibiza bar

    Skylight man

Originally formed in 1968 by guitarist Garth Watt-Roy and his bass-playing brother Norman. Also featured in the original line-up were organist Mick Deacon, drummer Ron Prudence and three horn players, Dick Hanson, Tex Phillpotts and Ian Aitcheson. The band's first vocalist was black American Ozzie Lane but he returned to his native New Orleans a year later and was replaced by Colin Horton-Jennings, not only a strong gravel-voiced singer but also quite adept on the guitar, bongos and flute. The group's mixture of R&B soul, jazz and prog-rock brought them to the attention of EMI's progressive label Harvest Records, who signed the band and issued, in February 1970, the single, "Real Cool World"/"Again And Again" (HAR 5012) which, though not a hit in the UK, gave the band a medium-sized hit across Europe where they were also an in-demand live attraction. Both tracks featured on their March 1970 debut LP, "Horizons" (SHVL 769) which was housed in a distinctive sleeve designed by Hipgnosis and coincided with a Radio One session for Mike Harding on which they played three new songs: "Border Line", "Mountain Song" and "Time". A second session for Harding, in November 1970, featured "The Leader" and "Check Me Into Your Life", the latter of which has never officially been released.

PRINCIPAL EDWARDS MAGIC THEATER (Exeter, Devon)

« The Asmoto running band » (Dandelion) '71

    The Asmoto running band

Formed at Exeter University in the late sixties (their name was apparently inspired by the head of the university), Principal Edwards Magic Theatre were more a multi-media enterprise than a rock group, appearing with dancers and lightshows. John Peel signed them to his Dandelion label and helped produce their albums. They also appeared regularly on his 'Top Gear' show. One of the main assets was lead vocalist, Vivienne McAuliffe, whose crystal clear voice helped make them a little special. Their music was innovative and imaginative with a strong folk influence and an air of mysticism. This is typified by "The Death Of Don Quixote" and "Third Sonnet to Sundry Notes of Music" on their second album. However, arguably their best track was "Pinky: A Mystery-Cycle",  a melodramatic number with a thudding drumbeat, haunting lyrics and frequent changes of tempo

    Szerelen

Illés was founded in 1960, but did not gain wider popularity outside of students clubs until 1963. This was the time the Hungarian language programs of Radio Luxemburg, broadcast illegally to Hungary, started to influence Hungarian youth culture. They were the first wildly popular band of the "new" beat music. Their song Még fáj minden csók (Every kiss still hurts) caused quite a scandal in 1966 because of Levente Szörényi's "squeaking" singing style

    Gone

CD « The collection » sur U.S.

    Then what

Girl who looks like a boy

The first side of the album carries echoes of the 60s through a lost summer of turbulent experiences, rock'n'roll, sexual liberation, hallucinations, destruction and self-destruction. The second side, darker musically and lyrically, refers to Nouvelle Vague cinema, building an atmosphere of surrealism and recounting an unfinished love story, distorted through the lens of a kaleidoscope. As demons hiding in the storm, the refrain of the album marks the path to purification.
